Telio supports CONNECTING HEARTS in its work for children of prisoners
Through CONNECTING HEARTS, the Telio Group contributes to the work of partner organizations such as The Nest in Kenya, where children whose mothers are in prison receive care, stability and practical help.
During a recent visit in Nairobi, a contribution was handed over in person to support children whose mothers are in prison.
We believe that correctional systems should contribute to better societal outcomes. Communication, family contact and social stability are not secondary issues. They play an important role in rehabilitation and reintegration.
This understanding must include families, especially children. When a parent is in prison, children may experience separation, uncertainty and a loss of stability in their everyday lives. They are affected by circumstances they did not choose.
The Nest provides care for these children as well as for others who need a safe and stable place to grow up. Around 100 infants and children up to the age of 16 currently live there. They receive food, clothing, medical care, education and reliable day-to-day support.
The organization also enables regular visits to mothers in prison, helping to preserve an important family bond.
Through CONNECTING HEARTS, Telio supports partners that work close to the children and understand their needs in their local context.
